The DryBun Story
We love our long hair.
But we don't love washing them all the time. And what we love even less: drying our hair afterwards. You know how it is. It feels like it takes an eternity for the shampoo to spread to the ends, followed by a rinse to give the dry ends some more care. And after showering? The hair has to be dried first... Whether with a hairdryer or in the air, this can easily take another hour depending on the length and thickness of the hair. That's not fast. Phew. So much time spent just washing your hair? Nope. Isn't there another way?
Two 17 and 19 year old sisters thought the same thing. The longer her hair got, the more difficult it became to care for it. The morning traffic jam in the bathroom was inevitable. Because if one person didn't wash her hair, then her younger sister did - or her mother did.
It wasn't just the length of the whole procedure that annoyed her, but also that the lengths and ends of the hair became increasingly stressed and dry due to too frequent washing. It was also the whole planning around it: After all, with long hair you can't just jump into the shower “quickly”. And her friends felt the same way. A friend was annoyed that the most difficult thing about exercise is the hair care afterwards. An hour and a half of training is followed by an hour of washing your hair every day. Another rides her bike to work every morning, even in winter. When she showered in the morning, her hair never got completely dry and she often caught a cold. Another always skipped showering in the morning before going to work - even though she would rather shower in the morning than in the evening. And when she did, she set her alarm an hour earlier. Another friend wore human hair extensions, which should be washed as little as possible anyway, as washing quickly shortens their lifespan.
If so many people have the same problem, the sisters thought, then someone in this world must have thought about a solution. They clicked through various scalp wash tutorials, “bag solutions” and the classic “head-under-the-faucet-in-the-sink” variant on the internet – but none of them worked really well.
And one Saturday morning, after they had spent an hour each just washing, caring for and drying, they spoke to their father in exasperation about the problem in order to get some air. Dad listened. Although he didn't know the problem himself (he practically wears his hair short), he felt challenged as an innovator. He looked around his workshop. There he found an old plastic bottle and a balloon. And then an idea came to him.
He showed his daughters his solution: a separated bottle base covered with the balloon, and he had cut a small hole into it at the top of the opening. A hair capsule was ready in which the hair lengths can be “stored” while the hair roots are washed. The sisters tested the construct – and found it to be good. The DryBun prototype was born.
